An International Week has been set up since the 2006-2007 school year and it has become the cultural event of our school during which we host about 100 people from 10 foreign delegations.
During this week both students and staff are immersed into an intercultural atmosphere in which experience sharing is important : cultural and language exchanges with our partners are developed then.
How does it work ?
Each one of the ten delegations we host is composed of a maximum of ten students and two accompanying staff. Foreign students must be between 14 and 18 years old to match our students’age and have to speak English, German, Spanish or French. They are accommodated in our French students’ families and staff at teachers’ homes.
Lunch is provided by the school restaurant during the week and dinners are taken at students’ and teachers’ families. At the weekend, full accommodation is provided by host families.
Both school activities and visits are organized by LP2I. Foreign delegations have to make travel arrangements and expenses to and from LP2I.
Every International week has a theme. This year, the theme is the Cosmos.
At some point during the week, the foreign students will join groups of French students. They will be asked to carry out, together, a production related to the Cosmos, that will be displayed to the other students at the end of the day. The groups will therefore be given 6 hours to decide together on what production they will do. It can take the form of a 2 or 3 minute video or the form of a slideshow. Foreign students can bring filming material if they are willing to.
Therefore this year, the delegations will not have anything specific to prepare beforehand.
The programme of our International Week will be put online on our website a few weeks before the beginning of the event.
In return, our foreign partners are kindly requested to host a few of our French students in their country at the end of the school year for two weeks. Likewise LP2I can also host and accommodate a few foreign students the following year for a week or two.
